God Notes

Solid

Lonnie Wibberding Season 2 Episode 21

A short devotional on 2 Timothy 3:16,17.

Good Morning! I'm your host Lonnie Wibberding, and you are listening to God Notes.  A daily devotional podcast sent out from sunny Southern California.

Today is Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

Finding truth we can trust in this world can be difficult. Ask ten people for advice and you get eleven answers. And even if there is good advice in there, which of the eleven is it?

Our text today suggests there is in fact something we can trust. A final authority as it were. In a world where person A has their truth, and person B has theirs, and they come together and agree they are both right, even though they are in conflict, it's a rare thing to find solid, trustworthy truth.

But that is the claim of our text today.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 says:

16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

A couple things in this text. Scripture, or the Bible is God-breathed. Men who were connected with God spoke the words. They put the thoughts in the way that made sense to them, but behind it all it was God's breath that moved the words.

It's a word picture to try to understand a concept. But the concept is this. The Bible is not just a collection of nice stories that were put together from man. Rather, the message in it is inspired by God. That makes it trustworthy. And that makes it full of advice and wisdom that goes beyond human wisdom.

Solid truth. Something we can trust.

May God Bless your day. We'll talk again tomorrow.
