A short devotional on Galatian 3:26-29.

Good Morning! I'm your host Lonnie Wibberding, and you are listening to God Notes.  A daily devotional podcast sent out from sunny Southern California.

Today is Monday, January 15, 2023.

It is Martin Luther King Jr. day. It is a day off of school for some. And if you work for the government, it's a day off work.

Enjoy the break if you are one who gets time off. But in this day I would invite you to pause for a few minutes to remember this man who helped change the course of history.

In honor of that I want to read a segment of his most famous speech.

"I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood."

"I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice."

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today."

"I have a dream that one day down in Alabama with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification, one day right down in Alabama little Black boys and Black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers. I have a dream today."

We as a nation have made advances in that dream. But we also still have advances to make.

Galatians 3:26-29 says:

26 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Thank you Martin Luther King Jr for reminding us that where ever we come from, we are equally valuable as humans created by God.

May God Bless your day. We'll talk again tomorrow.
