A short devotional on Psalms 18:32-36.

Good Morning! I'm your host Lonnie Wibberding, and you are listening to God Notes.  A daily devotional podcast sent out from sunny Southern California.

Today is Thursday, December 28, 2023.

It is God who makes us strong. He is reliable, and makes us into powerful people that we would never be without Him.

We are in Psalms 18 today. Not all of the psalms have an introduction, and many of them we don't know the author, just that they were collected as people wrote about their journeys with God.

But this one we get a prelude. It says:

For the director of music. Of David the servant of the Lord. He sang to the Lord the words of this song when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.

Words of a man who knew first hand the power of God, and what He can and will do as He combines His strength within us.

The whole Psalm is good, but we are just going to look at a few verses today.

Psalms 18:32-36 says:

It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. 33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights. 34 He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. 35 You make your saving help my shield, and your right hand sustains me; your help has made me great. 36 You provide a broad path for my feet, so that my ankles do not give way.

This is real stuff friends. It's not just theory to make us feel good. Some placebo to calm our nerves. Rather it is an active God who wants to be a part of your life and mine. So we can say with David:

It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure.

May God Bless your day. We'll talk again tomorrow.
