Friends. They are what makes life sweet. You or I can go do something that should be really fun, but with no one to share it with, it's not as fun as it could be. It may even be something you do by yourself. But when you are done, you want to tell someone your experience.
This is good, and God made us that way.
I've recently experienced some challenges in my personal life. I've had several friends reach out, and it's meant a lot. There is a sweetness to friends you can share life with.
Our text today reminds us of just that.
Proverbs 27:9,10 says:
9 Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of a friend springs from their heartfelt advice.
10 Do not forsake your friend or a friend of your family, and do not go to your relative’s house when disaster strikes you— better a neighbor nearby than a relative far away.
It is worth slowing down in life. Put all the "need to get done" stuff aside. And make some time. Have a bar-b-que and invite some people over. Meet someone for coffee, or a sandwich.
Take the time to slow down and connect. It's worth it. It's God's way to a better life.
